Terms of use & public data

ShipAU helps locate vessel records in available public sources. It is not a government authority, regulator or official representative of the sources.

Purpose and limitations

Reports are informational and do not replace legal advice or checks on counterparties, ownership, beneficial owners, cargo, routes and applicable restrictions. A name match does not establish vessel identity. An ILO case does not establish a sanctions designation.

Accuracy and responsibility

Lists change, downloads may fail, and automated matching can contain omissions and errors. Completeness, accuracy and currency are not guaranteed. Users must verify original records and are responsible for their decisions. To the extent permitted by applicable law, liability for consequences of using informational results is limited; this does not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Sources and rights

Data comes from publicly accessible OFAC, UK, UN, EU and ILO materials. Rights and reuse conditions are determined by each source. Public access alone does not grant an unrestricted licence. No official endorsement is claimed. Each automated source’s current status is shown in the report.

Queries and technical data

The application does not store search history or send queries to source providers. Protection uses a temporary session cookie and short-lived request counters with hashed network addresses. Counters are cleaned up on subsequent requests; hosting logs and backups depend on hosting configuration. Accounts store a username, password hash, role and login time. Security events are retained for up to 30 days and cleaned on new events. Sessions expire after 30 minutes idle or 8 hours total. No third-party analytics, advertising or external fonts are used.

Before relying on a report

Check the date of each source, exact IMO, excluded jurisdictions and partial coverage. Obtain independent professional advice for decisions with legal consequences. Mandatory legal requirements take precedence over these terms.
